Did you ever read The Birthday Ball, also by Lois Lowry. I thought it was just plain fun. The middle school book I'm now recommending is Flipped by Wendilyn Van Baaten (I think). I don't like the movie, but love the book. It's a rare one in which you actually see how a girl matures. Anyways, just thought I'd mention them. I enjoyed your list and will look several of them up!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11006242469989144965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4232639346497420305.post-30308043739434605742013-09-11T16:11:37.207-06:002013-09-11T16:11:37.207-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Rachel6https://www.blogger.com/profile/15138745237488029817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4232639346497420305.post-35491749915469963252013-09-11T16:11:27.995-06:002013-09-11T16:11:27.995-06:00James Herriot!! And I'm deeply impressed that even with writing, Life duties, and your own reading list, you took time to read aloud to your kids.

Carson McCullers (short stories and novellas), several of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, and John Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" and "Tortilla Hill." There were (many) others, but I can't remember the titles.Rachel6https://www.blogger.com/profile/15138745237488029817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4232639346497420305.post-30630983002920647482013-09-11T16:09:20.829-06:002013-09-11T16:09:20.829-06:00At least you can take comfort knowing that I have ...At least you can take comfort knowing that I have never read anything by Agatha Christy either. Nor have I read The Catcher in the Rye. It's on my list which, like yours, is ridiculously long.Batch of Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08011267256741853797noreply@blogger.com
